- The PLW Spartan Challenge
- Saturday, September 26, 2026
- $100 Entry Per Player
- 96 Players MAX
- $5,000 to Winning Team
This is not a normal tournament.
The Spartan Challenge is an individual-entry survival event where every player signs up solo. You do not need to bring a team. You do not need to already have teammates. Everyone enters on their own, and the teams are built through the challenge itself.
The idea is simple:
Sign up solo. Survive each round. Capture players you beat. Keep building your squad. One Spartan team remains.
Here’s how the format works.
Round 1 — 1v1*
Every player starts alone.
You play 1-on-1. If you win, you “capture” the player you beat. That player joins you, and you become the Team Captain of this team for the remainder of the tournament.
Round 2 — 2v2
Your new 2-player team now plays another 2-player team.
The winning team captures both players from the losing team. That means the winning team grows from 2 players to 4 players.
Round 3 — 4v4
Now the 4-player teams face off.
The winning team captures 2 players from the losing team and grows to 6 players. The other 2 players from the losing team are eliminated from the main challenge.
Round 4 — 6v6
From this point forward, the games become full 6v6 matchups.
The winning team captures 1 player from the losing team. The remaining losing players are eliminated.
Remaining Rounds — 6v6 Survival Format
After Round 4, the event continues in 6v6 rounds.
Each round, the winning team can choose to capture up to 1 player from the losing team, and the rest of the losing team is eliminated. The challenge continues until only one Spartan team remains.
This format creates a completely different kind of event. You may start the day playing against someone, then end up needing them on your team later. Every round matters. Every player matters. And surviving is just as important as winning.
This event is designed for all types of players. You do not need a full team. You do not need to be part of an established roster. Just sign up, show up, and compete.
PLW Spartan Challenge Payouts
- 1st Place: $4,000 [Captain $2,000, Team splits $2,000]
- 2nd Place $1,000 [Captain $1,000, Team splits $500]
The PLW Hitters Challenge – Side Event for Eliminated Players
The Hitters Challenge will be a winner-take-all batting competition with a $250 prize.
Each batter will get 10 swings.
Scoring will be:
Single = 1 point
Double = 2 points
Triple = 4 points
Home Run = 6 points
Free entry for eliminated players, $50 entry for everyone else. Everyone participates in round 1. After that, the top 4 scores advance to the final round, and the highest score wins.
Each eliminated player can show up to the designated Hitter’s Challenge Field to check in and compete in round 1. A leaderboard will be displayed and updated and the Top 4 scores will advance to the final round on the Main Field right before the Tournament Finals where a winner will be crowned.
The Spartan Challenge is one of the signature events of the PLW soft launch year, and it is built to be different from anything else on the schedule.
This is part tournament, part survival game, part team-building challenge.
More details on registration, pricing, rules, and check-in times will be released soon.
