Week 4 Predictions –
LIGHTNING (8-1) vs. VADERZ (6-3)
The Lightning have gotten off to another fast start in Season 6, but it was the Vaderz who slowed them down last season and they are looking to do it again this season. Lightning pitching has been dominate only giving up () runs through the first 9 games of the season. And the Vaderz have been impressive in all 3 phases. Can the Vaderz score runs against this Lightning pitching staff? Yes, I believe they can, but will it be enough to get a series win? I say yes, this week the Vaderz offense is enough, and the Lightning pitching comes back down to earth.
VADERZ (2-1)
NIGHTOWLS (4-5) vs. SNAPPERS (3-5)
Last week was not something either of these teams expected, as both were swept in the respective series. Each amid 3 game losing streaks, both will look to rebound with a much-needed rebound and series win. The Nightowls ran into the Lightning buzzsaw and were only able to manage 1 run in the series, while the Snappers were without 3-time MVP Taylor Bryner for their series against the Sandvipers, where they only managed 1 run in the series. Safe to say each team will score more than 1 run in this series. I like the Snappers, assuming Bryner is in the lineup. But if not, I can see the Nightowls getting back to .500.
SNAPPERS (2-1)
SANDVIPERS (6-3) vs. BOMBERS (4-4)
In the nightcap, we have another series pitting some PLW originals against each other. Sandvipers are riding high after their dominating series sweep against the Snappers, while the Bombers are looking to bounce back after dropping their series to the Cajuns. Offense should be on display as these 2 powerful lineups will be on full display. In my opinion, the Bombers pitching will be the deciding factor. If Bauer, Kenny Santiwan and Max Fernandez can be effective early, their offense should be able to compete with the Sandvipers lineup. Pitching is the difference and the Bombers have more of it.
BOMBERS (2-1)
ONES (2-7) vs. LEGENDS (5-4)
For me, this is the Legends biggest rival in the PLW. Our first series ever was against each other and all the series since have been extremely competitive regardless of positions in the standings. The biggest factor will be attendance. Will there be Stein, Chen and/or Barrick in this week’s lineup for the Ones? Austin Bull is now a Sandviper, so the rookies will have to continue to improve. Legends look to be at full strength this week, and that could be the difference. A full Legends lineup is a playoff caliber lineup. Too much for the Ones in a 3-game series, Legends are the play.
LEGENDS (2-1)
PHARAOHS (3-6) vs CAJUNS (3-6)
Reigning Playoff MVP and now Pharaoh Owner, Logan Christie brings his new team to face his former team in a battle at the bottom of the table that could have far reaching ramifications. Pharaohs have had flashes in all 3 series this season but have not been able to win a series to date. The Cajuns found their winning ways against the Bombers last week and looked like their old selves. Pharaohs have a ton of power (16 HR’s; 3rd in the PLW) but are last in the league in On Base Percentage at .283. Solo HRs don’t win a lot of series. Cajuns keep the Pharaohs off the bases and their offense continues to round into form.
CAJUNS (2-1)
